Best book bargain (so far) 4 ASOIAF books for only 4$: Book Bargain #9

11296800_1604049303199433_1158177215_n

Hi guys! I have not posted lately, been busy with stuff and life in general. But I missed blogging about books and whatnot, so let me post the best book bargain I have ever experienced, well aside from the Scholastic Warehouse Sale last December in which I was able to buy Harry Potter books in hardcover for only P50 or a dollar each. I was not able to complete all the seven books because there were evil hoarders then who was selling the books on instagram for 5x the price. That’s another story so I wouldn’t dwell on that. Haha!

Last week I was browsing #booksph on Instagram, I opened a picture of the books in the A Song of Ice and Fire Series (or Game of Thrones as most people know)  with a caption “All books less than P100.” So curiosity got the best of me, went to the account and browsed through the posted books and it was true, each books costs P60 $1.15. I was so sure to get the three books Feast for Crows, Dance with Dragons and Storm of Swords because I already have Game of Thrones or the Book1. I am an avid fan of the TV series, I haven’t read the books (I’m being honest here) I just really loved the series and I knew at one point I need to read all the books to be called a true blooded fan, I was so sure to get the books in hardcover, but the price, boy it was too expensive and I don’t have the funds for it. So I settled to get the first book in this edition.

a-game-of-thrones

I got this book when I was in HongKong, I believe this edition is not available here in the Philippines plus it was really easier to read as opposed to the ones being sold here in the Philippines. I vowed to get them one at a time. But then this bargain happened. So even if I am not a fan of the format which was mass market paperback (I really find it hard to read on mmpbs because I have very poor eyesight), I gave in, it was so cheap and it is literally a crime if I would pass it up. So I messaged the seller, she was willing to give the 4 books for only 200 or 4$. I agreed, might as well get book 1, so I have another copy to abuse hehe. Then she uploaded more books for sale and I saw she was selling Catcher in The Rye too so I went ahead and added it on my order. And now here they are! Kristine of @strawberrysprinklesph was really nice and accommodating, this will definitely not be the last time I will be buying from her humble shop.

Book gods might be smiling at me 🙂 Here are the individual photos.

And here is my humble collection of Game of Thrones Funko Pop. Next on my list will either be Drogon, Hodor, Ned, Robb or Grey Worm, well Jaime Lannister funko looks cool too. Whichever is available I guess. I have to complete the Harry Potter funkos first.

I love this bookhau and my funko pop collection! Newest in my collection is Ygritte. And I am seriously doing photoshoots of her and Jon Snow. 🙂

Thanks for reading and may you have a lovely day ahead! 🙂

Everything from Booksale Robinsons Imus

Hi! So Booksale is currently my best friend, it just keeps giving me good bargains! I swear June has been the best month for bargain finds, and we are not even half way through June!

Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf I saw this beautiful copy of Mrs. Dalloway and I just knew it will go home with me. This edition is just so gorgeous! The spine is a little creased but, it doesn’t really bother me, plus it was only P125 or 3$. It was still a great steal!

Scarlet Pimpernel by Baronness Orczy Yes you are seeing two copies. The bigger and nicer copy will go to my dear friend Jenny of (@jayne.vs.books on instagram). I have been recommended so many times of this book so I went ahead and bought it.

Private Lives of Pippa Lee by Rebecca Miller I have been intrigued by this book when I saw Zoe of WeLiveforBooks enjoyed and reviewed it. So when I saw it for only P35 of less than a dollar, I knew I had to get it. Plus the book is in perfect condition!

From Desire to Desire by Yevtushenko is a collection of love poems, the book was older than me, it was published 1980 and with the original owner’s name. I find that cool. And I bought it for P20 or half a dollar!

I am happy with this haul! 🙂

All boought from BookSale Pedrogil branch, one of my favorite!

11123928_915502798492982_1240325058_n

I am back in Manila after staying for a good eight months at Tagaytay (where the weather is more forgiving). And because I am a little homesick, yes I wanted to go home, I miss my mom and my books. I visited Booksale Pedro Gil branch, I used to find good books there when I was living here in Manila last year. To be honest I had no intention on buying anything, but these pretty books presented themselves to me.

1. Refresh, Refresh by Benjamin Percy is a collection of short stories, aside from poetry I am also into reading short stories, this is highly influenced by Matt of WeLiveforBooks I am so obsessed with their channel and mostly the books I am accumulating recently was influenced by Zoey and Matt. Check their booktube channel if you guys have time, no I say you make time for it. So Refresh, Refresh is the cheapest book I got yesterday, it was only P20 or .50.

2. Quiver of Arrows by Carl Phillips is a collection of poems from 1986 to 2006. I have read his other work Riding Westward and I fairly enjoyed it, so when I saw this book for only P35 or less than a dollar, I just could not resist. Plus this will be yet another addition to my ever growing collection of poetry books.

3. Fathers: A collection of Poems this is a collection of poems from a hundred known poets talking about their fathers. In this splendid collection, both daughters and sons introduce us and pay heartfelt tribute to their fathers. whether writing of fathers who were heroes or antiheroes, defenders or pacifists, those who went away suddenly or those who reappeared after a long period of time, the poets here cast the net wide to harvest the infinite variety of the father and child relationship. This moving anthology includes. This book reminded me of my father, who passed away a year ago, I am pretty sure this book will bring out some tears. Bought this one for P35 or less than a dollar.

4. The Peculiars by Maureen Doyle McQuerry and a signed one at that! This is a steampunk novel, I have had my eyes on this one for the longest time whenever I visit the bookstore, but I could not bring myself to pay the full price for it, and so when I saw it on Booksale for P130 or 3$ and it was freaking signed, I knew there is no way I’m not going home without it.

5. The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry to be honest I was about to leave this one behind, I don’t see myself reading it in the near future, but then I removed its dust jacket and my god it was so beautiful, then I checked the reviews and it was good, plus it was only P80 or 2$ so it would be absurd to leave it behind.

So that is my mini bookhaul from a secondhand book store here in the Philippines. I swear used bookstores will be the death of me! haha! Have a happy day ahead guys. Have you hauled books from second hand bookstores? Come on show me!!!

All from BookSale SM Dasmarinas

How is everyone? I’ve been missing in action for a while. I got a new job so I would be busy during weekdays. I will try to update my blog as much as I can, even my reading time is sacrificed 😦

Today I am going to share my newly acquired books. I spent a little over 8$ for all these books. The Hobbit in hard cover, The Fellowship of the Ring both by JRR Tolkien. I have been wanting to read the Lord of The Rings Series for the longest time, it is just so hard to find a decent copy at secondhand bookstores and the ones in bookstores are in mass market paperback format which I am not a fan of. So it was really a good deal to have found these two books. I hope I can find The Two Towers and The Return of The King too so I could finally marathon them!

And Siddhartha by Herman Hesse I bought for only Php20 or .40c. this book is included in The Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge so I was really stoked when I found it at very cheap price! So these are the books I got over the weekend, did you get any books? Show me! 🙂 Have a great week ahead!

The first three books I got from BookSale SM Dasma and All the Bright Places from NBS SM Dasma 🙂

Hi! How is everyone?

Here is my mini bookhaul. 🙂 The Scarlet Pimpernel to be honest is a book I would not have picked up on my own, but my good friend Gie highly recommended this book and so I was really thrilled to find the book under the piles of unwanted books at BookSale. I got it for only Php85 or 2$, down side is it has the previous owner’s name – Arthur, well I think this kind of gave a new character to the book. And I love those kind of things – so it is not really a down side after all.

R is for Ricochet by Sue Grafton you may be wondering why I bought this book, especially so when it is a battered copy – it is very unlikely of me. Rory Gilmore is the one to blame! Haha this book is included in the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge, so when I saw it I immediately bought it, plus it is only Php15 or .30c? Super cheap, I could easily give it away. I take the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge very seriously, I am itching to strike out books after another in the said list. If you want to see the progress I have made (believe me there is not much progress, 6 books out of 339, this is why I am so hell bent on reading majority of the books listed there) click here.

The Broken String by Grace Schulman I bought it for Php35 or .90c and it is a poetry book, I mentioned on my Instagram that I will be buying more poetry books this year, so far I own 7 poetry books. 🙂 I can’t wait to see my collection grow.

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Nevin I have heard amazing things about this book and so when my mom bought it for me, I was ecstatic! (Thanks Ma!) I heard this book is tear-inducing and heart wrenching, so I am not sure yet if I will pick this one up soon, or I have to mentally and emotionally prepare myself first. We’ll see. 🙂

These are the books I got today. How about you, did you get any books today? Show meee! 🙂

Book Bargain #3 and Huge Reading Slump

10894908_1521470354790534_1619369027_n

I got this book from BookSale for only P145 or $3 bought from SM Lipa

Hi! I have not posted for a while, as I am currently undergoing too much holidays stuff and whatnot. I’ve been always out, doing some last minute Christmas shopping, running some errands, attending christmas parties and family reunions, I swear it wore me out. Thus the reason of my huge reading slump, whenever I have a few spare time, I don’t spend it on reading, I rather lie down, or laze around or watch tv, or whenever I bring myself to read a few pages, it feels like I am forcing myself, and I hate having that feeling, I read because I want to, not because for the sake of finishing the book, I don’t want to rush it, I want to give it justice.

Last Friday, we dropped by a mall before we head to our relatives, I of course went to booksale, I wanted to find something to read while we are at our relatives’ place. I’m not one to mingle with adults and hold adult conversations, I seriously suck at that. So as I was browsing the stacks of books, I chanced upon Unwind by Neal Shusterman,I have been wanting to read this book for the longest time as I am very intrigued by its plot, so when I saw the first book of the series, I did not think twice, I immediately bought it. This book got me out of my reading slump, so yay for that! I am half way through and I am really loving the story, I love stories that make you think, make you predict what will happen next! Oh I so love the uniqueness of this book, I now understand all the hype about it!!

So that pretty sums up my holiday haha! How about you guys, how’s your holiday going so far?

Book Bargains #2

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl for only P130 or almost 3$ and Baby's In Black for P170 or almost 4$

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl for only P130 or almost 3$ and Baby’s In Black for P170 or almost 4$

I went to the mall today to buy a gift for a friend, so a trip to the mall is never complete if I will not be visiting BookSale (a local used book store here in the Philippines) I noticed they had new stocks, it wasn’t really my intention to buy anything but then these babies flaunted their pretty covers to me. And they are in the best condition, like new! I first saw Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, I have heard mixed reviews about it, and one of my friends whom I have the same taste when it comes to books didn’t like it, but I still bought it, I would like to give it a try, it’s cheap and in hard cover so it wouldn’t be a major guilt trip if i end up hating the book, plus the cover is pretty (haha sue me, i love pretty covers) it couldn’t be that bad.

10844081_388263934665596_1659281059_nAnd so I was determined to leave the book store with only one book, but ugh!! this book is just soo beautiful to pass up. It is a Graphic Novel about the fifth member of The Beatles, he was not able to make it big because he fell in love! So being the hopeless romantic that I am and I because wanted more graphic novels added to my collection,I bought it! Yay! I am so pumped to read this one!!!

It had me at The True Love Story of the Lost Beatle! oh yeah! Today is a good day for books, ( well any given day is a good day for books!) So have you been to a used book store near you? What did you get? Come on, show me!

P.S I posted this on my instagram and asked few times which branch of Book Sale I got them from – It is BookSale SM Dasmarinas 🙂

I went out today to buy a gift for a friend, sadly I wasn’t able to find the ones she listed on her wishlist. Well I figured out something instead. So before heading home I dropped by BookSale, a popular second hand bookstore here in the Philippines. You have no idea how I literally gasped when I saw the spine of The Bronze Horseman amongst the many piles of books, though I am not a fan of the cover and I don’t usually buy used books with cracked spine his one would be an exception. I just simply could not pass this one up.I know I will be able to find a better copy, but for now this will do. And The Lies of Locke Lamora is another book I have been dying to read. I heard a lot of good things about it, actually about both of these books! So I am so pumped to finally start them!

How about you? Have you been to a used book store lately?
